40% of the electors did not proceed to vote during the Municipal and Regional elections. The candidates supported by PASOK won at seven regions while the candidates supported by the ND won at six regions. The Communist party of Greece (KKE) increased considerably its force.

Yiannis Macherides the candidate of the Region of Southern Aegean, is the only one of the 13 regions' candidates that exceeded 50%. For the rest 12 regions it will be a second round next Sunday.

In national level the results of the elections, according to the support of the parties, is the following:

PASOK: 34.5% ND: 32.6% KKE: 10.8% LAOS: 4.1% SYRIZA: 4.5%

Region of Attica: Yannis Sgouros and Vasilis Kikilias

Region of Northern Aegean: Pavlos Bogiatzis and Athanassios Giakalis

Region of Western Greece: Apostolos Katsifaras and Giorgos Papanastasiou

Region of Western Macedonia: Giorgos Dakis and Ioannis Papaiodranidis

Region of Continent: Alexandros Karchimanis and Evangelos Argyris

Region Thessaly: Konstantinos Agorastos and Apostolos Papatolias

Region of Ionian Islands: Spiridon Spyrou and Ilias Mperiatos

Region of Central Macedonia: Panagiotis Psomiadis and Markos Mpolaris

Region Crete: Stavros Arnaoutakis and Dimitris Giannoulakis

Region of Southern Aegean: Ioannis Machairidis 50,74%

Region of Peloponnese: Petros Tatoulis and Dimitrios Drakos

Region of Sterea Hellas: Klearchos Pergantas and Athanassios Cheimaras
